The Crystal Palace is sure to remind you of other buildings constructed at the same time, at the end of the 19th century, in which the metal structure construction acquired a great prominence.
And indeed, when in 1887 the architect Ricardo Velázquez Bosco built the Crystal Palace, its purpose was to house an exhibition of tropical flora as part of an exhibition dedicated to the Philippine Islands.
Finally, since 1990 the Palacio de Cristal del Retiro is one of the headquarters of the Reina Sofia Museum of Contemporary Art, so that when you visit it, you will always have the opportunity to see a temporary exhibition of this cultural entity.
